It takes 17 times more land to feed American pets than would be required by solar farms producing enough electricity to meet all the demand in the United States. (via Ecosmackdown: Pets Versus Solar Panels | Wired Science | Wired.com)
here’s an article about pets in the New Scientist. Apparently a 4.6-litre Toyota Land Cruiser exudes half the eco footprint of a mid sized dog. Sounds barking mad to me, but then cows and burgers are another story
Goodbye Chihuahua, it’s time for tamagotchis. OR get yourself an augmented reality pet at http://www.adoptme.com/. Adoptme.com is a fun website where you can adopt free virtual pets such a dogs, cats, horses, turtles, monkeys, snakes, and fish, and then take care of them online. In addition, your pet will have their own blog and profile page, it can get a job, join a pet group, chat with other pets, send egreeting cards to other pets, enter the Pet of the Month contest, and dress up in fancy clothes. You can even chat with your pet. Great, no poo to clear up and less energy! I still want a real dog though :/
